Can I get digital satellite without Sky equipment ?
The BBC has made an important change to the way it broadcasts its services on satellite, this will have profound benefits for audiences across the UK.
From 10th July, the BBC began broadcasting all its channels unencrypted or 'in the clear' on satellite. This means that the BBC's eight television channels are still available on
Sky boxes - but they also now capable of being received by other UK satellite boxes too. Sky box owners will no longer need a card to watch BBC channels.
From 10th July, BBC broadcasts from the Astra 2D satellite
are became 'Free to Air'. This means they are unencrypted and can be received on any suitable digital equipment within the Astra 2D footprint. Viewers will no longer need an access card to watch our domestic BBC services.Viewers using Sky digiboxes should not notice any difference to their BBC service.
UK Viewers using non-Sky equipment can now tune in manually to the BBC channels available using the following frequencies below
