EXPANDING YOUR SKY DIGITAL SYSTEM ...
You can add to your Sky Digital satellite system once it has been installed, below are a few of the possibilities.
Wiring Sky to other rooms
On the back of your Sky digibox is a socket marked RF2, this is for distribution of the satellite pictures around your home.
A simple co-ax cable run from this socket and plugged into another TV in another room (bedroom etc) will allow you to view your favourite channels on this TV.
By plugging a "TV Link" on the end of the lead will let you change the channel from this point also. [ sky tv link ] [ fitting info ]
This is fine if you only want to watch your favourite channels from one other room, but if you want to distribute the pictures to further rooms you will need a distribution amplifier.
These are available in 2, 4 and 8 way versions depending on the number of rooms you are wiring to.
This type of amplifier lets the voltage sent up the coax cable pass through to the Sky TV link so it may relay the remote control functions back to the
digibox. [ sky distribution amplifiers ]
Two or more Sky Digiboxes in your home
A "reduced subscription" (around £12) is now available from Sky, this means that a 2nd, 3rd or 4th Sky digibox can be fitted in your house without paying the full subscription
price for each Sky digibox used.
The equipment needed for this is;
A Sky digibox, one for each feed required (some good [ refurbished ] models available now)
A Twin or Quad LNB - to provide the 2 or 4 satellite feeds needed for your additional sky digiboxes.
As there are a couple of different dishes used for Sky Digital it is important to purchase the LNB that fits your particular dish - check the pictures on the site, or
use our Quad LNB that comes with adaptors to fit all the different makes of Sky Minidish available. [ Quad LNB ]
This method will allow you to watch upto 4 different channels at the same time.
Sky + Plus

record and store one months worth of programs in its hard drive. [ sky+ digibox ] [ more info ]

Personal Video Recorder
Introducing a new product called the Phantom PVR
a handy little device that turns your existing video recorder into a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) just like Sky +. Fit it onto the VCR scart socket of your sky digibox and program the control to match your VCR.
Then the phantom will record any sky programs you set in your personal planner on your sky digibox, you don't even have to set the timer on your VCR - very easy to install and use.
